Before Gatsby was well known and acknowledge he was just little old James Gatz. There was a dramatic moment in his life when he turned seventeen. This was when he started his current career and lifestyle. At this point in his life his most influential friend went by the name of Dan Cody. There relationship soared off one day when they were at the beach and bumped into each other. The two conversed on Cody's yacht and ever since that they became very close.
Cody is a very rich man who was sensitive and very gull able. He worked with cooper before, which resulted in his confortablity financially. To women Cody was very naive.Mr. Gatsby realized Cody's heartbreaks and became his secretary, skipper, jail mate and much more.
